From Dr Raj Joshi, ST6
MRCPsych exam dates 2026 and 2027
Dr Raj JoshiST6 in General Adult Psychiatry. Ranked number 1 in ST4 applications.
Miss an application window and you wait for the next sitting, which can mean months. So I’ve put every date the College has published for Paper A, Paper B and the CASC in one place, with how long you have left. At the bottom is my best guess for 2028.
Next application window
CASC, January 2027
Opens Monday 26 October. Closes Friday 6 November, 3.30pm UK time.
From the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Applying for your exam page, checked on 17 October 2026. The College can change them, so check there before you apply.

The bar under each sitting is its application window. It fills as the window runs, so an open one shows you how much time is left.

The College has posted an update on the Doha CASC on its exams news page. Its 2027 Doha dates are still to be confirmed.
My prediction for 2028
The College publishes about a year ahead. If you’re planning further than that, this is how I’d pencil it in. I took the latest published date for each sitting and moved it on 52 weeks, so it lands on the same weekday. Before trusting it, I tried it on the 2026 dates and compared what it gave with what the College then published for 2027:
- within 7 daysExam days
- within 3 daysApplication windows
- within 13 daysResults days

What catches people out
Before you apply
- Applications close at 3.30pm UK time on the last day, not midnight. Late or incomplete applications are not accepted.
- Your CASC sponsor has to act inside the window too. They authorise, then you pay. If either happens after the closing date, you’re not entered. Sponsors and applying, step by step
- Reasonable adjustments go in by the closing date. For the CASC, separate rooms and extra time go first come, first served.
- You have six years from your first pass. The clock starts when your first theory result is published, and the CASC has to be done inside it.
Fees for 2026
| Exam | PMPT trainees and affiliates | Everyone else |
|---|---|---|
| Paper A | £568 | £630 |
| Paper B | £511 | £567 |
| CASC (UK) | £1,129 | £1,254 |
| CASC (Singapore, Middle East) | £1,465 | £1,628 |
If you’re a trainee, you should be able to claim the fee back against tax. The College gives you a letter for it.
Once you know your sitting, plan your weeks back from it with the study planner, and check what the 2027 syllabus changes.
